NEW SMART URBAN MOBILITY SHOW TO RUN ALONGSIDE ALL-ENERGY 2017
The new event will focus on Glasgows pioneering work on smart cities and the citys, and Scotlands, long history of innovation in intelligent traffic control.
The inaugural Smart Urban Mobility Solutions (SUMS) exhibition and conference will be co-located with the UKs largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference - All-Energy 2017 (SECC, Glasgow; 10-11 May 2017). The new event will focus on Glasgows pioneering work on smart cities and the citys, and Scotlands, long history of innovation in intelligent traffic control.
"Over recent years smart sustainable cities and sustainable transport have figured on both the conference agenda and the exhibition show floor at All-Energy," explains Event Director, Jonathan Heastie of organisers Reed Exhibitions. "It is now time to spread the net wider and launch SUMS 2017 alongside All-Energy as a co-located event.
"SUMS 2017, which is supported by Glasgow City Council, includes an exhibition and a two-day conference programme, will focus on the growing demand for new and emerging smart mobility technologies within existing transportation infrastructures - just one of the many challenges facing todays cities. In this age of rapid change, intelligent strategies are required and efficient use and control of mobility solutions are of prime importance. The Transport System Catapult puts the estimated global market value at £900 billion by 2025."
The new event is aimed at representatives from cities, local/regional/national governments and authorities as well as transport authorities; city and transport infrastructure contractors; decision makers and advisors from private ventures; large utility groups; investors and technologists. These visitors will be able to register free of charge for SUMS 2017 and also visit All-Energy (or vice versa).
The Call for Papers for SUMS 2017 is open on the SUMS website - www.smarturbanmobilitysolutions.com. Abstracts will be accepted on all topics that the event will be covering and any others that prospective speakers believe to be relevant to the shows audience. Closing date for abstracts is Thursday 15 December.
The exhibition, and conference programme, will feature key technologies and topics including:
• Connected vehicles
• Highly and fully automated driving
• Sensor technologies and data collection
• Data communications, storage, modelling and visualisation
• Open data
• Multimodal journey planners and traveller information services
• Demand-responsive transport
• Routing
• Smart payment technologies
• Smart parking technologies
• Public transport tracking for passengers information
• Fleet tracking/improved fleet management
• Incident response technologies
• Observation and monitoring technologies
• Emissions reduction and environmental considerations
• Noise reduction strategies
• Low carbon vehicles, including EVs, hybrid, and hydrogen
• Charging/refuelling infrastructure and energy management
"There will be a display area for smart and sustainable urban vehicles, some of which have featured in the past at All-Energy, boosted by other displays from SUMS providers," explains Jonathan Heastie. "We would like to encourage organisations local to Glasgow to consider inviting our visitors and exhibitors on site visits to relevant local installations and/or to technology demonstrations the day before, or after, SUMS 2017."
