CLOUD&HEAT TECHNOLOGIES LOWERS DATA SERVER EMISSIONS BY 180 TONS OF CO2 PER YEAR WITH DIRECT WATER COOLING SOLUTION

Cloud&Heat Technologies, a leading infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and private cloud computing provider, today announced that it has lowered data server emissions by 180 tons of CO2 per year with direct water cooling. By combining the demand for computing power and heating energy, companies which add ten server cabinets with the Cloud&Heat Technology to its datacenters, with Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 2.0, can also reduce energy costs for cooling and save heating costs. The reference data server with this technology additionally exhibits the world's lowest PUE and thereby undercuts the PUE of flagship-data centers from Google and Facebook.

Third Sun Solar Advocates Net Metering in Ohio

Third Sun Solar, the largest solar panel installation company in Ohio, is actively fighting to protect the rights of Ohio businesses and property owners who want to increase the state's energy independence. On Oct. 3, Third Sun Solar representative Michael Smucker testified before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio staff, advocating for the protection and strengthening of Ohio's net metering rules. Smucker said PUCO never finalized the last set of rules from the 2012; Ohio law now requires a review of those standards. Ohio's net metering rule (O.A.C. 4901:1-10-28) is one of the rules under review.

PVinsights: Solar Edged Down, Thin Trading Limited Losses

Polysilicon prices edged lower this week, declining for a second week and sapping more strength from a third-quarter rally, amid signs that global glut in downstream may not be clearing as the bulls had hoped. The prices tiptoed lower in China, pressured by weaker multi-crystalline wafer prices but supported by the tight supply and the solid demand from mono-crystalline wafer makers which afford polysilicon's high prices. The polysilicon supply took a brief knock in overseas market as the explosion of Wacker's American plant restricted the supply, although healthy inventories and other suppliers, like Hemlock and REC silicon, offered support to the polysilicon supply.
