OPDE begins construction of a new 5MWp solar farm in the United Kingdom

The construction will be carried out between October and December of 2016, and at its completion, the new solar farm will generate enough electricity to provide more than 1,300 homes every year. With this new solar farm, located in the county of North Yorkshire, OPDE is near to meet 100MW of built solar photovoltaic capacity in the United Kingdom.

OPDE, a multinational solar company specialising in the development, investment, construction and operation of solar photovoltaic farms, is going to begin the construction of a new 5 MWp solar farm near the little municipality of Low Bentham, North Yorkshire County, north of the country.

According to the information given by the company, it is expected that the works will begin next October and are to be completed this year. Once connected to the grid, the new plant will generate each year the equivalent energy consumption of 1,335 homes and will avoid the emission of approximately 49,400 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere during its lifetime.
Once the new plant is completed, OPDE will have accumulated near 100MWp photovoltaic built in England, a country in which the company has increased considerably its activity in the years 2015 and 2016.
This is mainly due to two factors: the bet that the country has made for solar photovoltaic energy; and the extensive experience of the multinational company in projects located in Italy, Spain, Mexico, USA or Chile, among other countries, which has not gone unnoticed by the major agents of the local energy market.
Other projects
Last June, the company connected in England three new solar farms of 5 MW each located in the municipalities of Sittingbourne (Kent County); Langar (Nottinghamshire County), and Crewkerne (Somerset County).
With more than a decade of history, OPDE currently keeps solar photovoltaic development projects in excess of 800 MW distributed throughout the world.
