OutBack Power Teams with HiQ Solar to Offer Unique 3-Phase Solar Technology in New Commercial Markets and Applications
Innovative Silicon Valley solar manufacturers partnership with the iconic brand in off-grid, hybrid and energy storage systems is a precise alignment for both brands.
ARLINGTON, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OutBack Power Technologies, Inc. a leader in off-grid and Grid/Hybrid renewable energy products and systems, today announced a partnership with HiQ Solar, an innovator in 3-phase power-conversion technology for commercial and industrial solar applications. OutBack Power will sell and support HiQs TrueString products in an installer network grown over its 15 years of leadership in the solar industry, providing solar professionals with a new opportunity for growth.
As solar equipment and pricing policies continue to trend favorably for system owners and operators, businesses are investing more in renewable energy, incentivized by both a "bottom line" economic return through long-term energy savings as well as the ability to demonstrate greater corporate responsibility. HiQs 3-phase "plug and play" system will provide OutBack a proven, advanced solution to bring commercial-scale solar to a wide new audience of design installation professionals and expand the brands reach into new markets.
"As two solar innovators focused on separate, but complementary markets, this is an ideal alignment," remarked Harvey Wilkinson, general manager of OutBack Power. "OutBacks expertise lies mainly in residential, light commercial and off-grid PV systems with energy storage, in single and split-phase configurations. HiQ Solar is emerging as a leader in the 3-phase commercial/industrial grid-tied market. This alliance will introduce OutBacks core customers to a new opportunity and add to their business portfolios, and we are thrilled to partner with HiQ Solar to make that opportunity possible."
Added Drew Zogby, president of Alpha Technologies, OutBack Powers parent company, "This relationship has great potential both with OutBacks customer base and beyond it. One example is our own Alpha Energy group, which is an established commercial and industrial solar EPC in its own right. This makes it possible for Alpha and others to offer a truly complete, turn-key commercial solution."
HiQ Solars chairman and CEO, Lutz Henckels, commented on the new relationship, "Our unique technology makes commercial solar ‘plug-and-play feasible. Our award winning products have been certified for use and proven in the North American commercial and industrial markets. Our inverter is designed to accommodate storage and, with OutBack Powers expertise in storage solutions, we truly complement each other. This adds up to a unique solar value proposition for OutBack Powers customer base, which includes some of the most skilled and knowledgeable installers in the industry. Were looking forward to the strong, mutually-beneficial relationship, which will come from a partnership between HiQ and an industry leader."
The two companies plan to release complete details of their business partnership between now and the upcoming InterSolar North America show in San Francisco in July.
About HiQ Solar
Founded in 2009, HiQ Solar draws on decades of industry experience in high-tech, with a veteran team from the precision communications test and measurement field. HiQs TrueString technology is based on small, light and rugged 3-phase 208V and 480V "plug and play" 8kW systems in NEMA6 enclosures, which can be rooftop mounted. This unique system architecture saves considerable time and money for commercial installers, with NEC-mandated rapid-shutdown capability built-in. Lightweight, rugged and mountable practically anywhere, the HiQ design is ideal for small to large systems and for deployment in areas that traditionally prove challenging for solar, such as coastal, desert and high altitude locations.
