WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following is a statement by Sean Gallagher, vice president of state affairs for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), on Governor Bakers signing of compromise legislation to lift the cap on net metering in Massachusetts and on his decision to issue an emergency regulation extending the Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs):

"Governor Bakers signature on a legislative compromise to lift net metering caps puts an exclamation point on what has been a remarkable week for the future of solar energy in Massachusetts. The state was fourth in the nation in 2015 in solar development, and now after a pause, will forge ahead with jobs and economic development.
"In supporting pro-solar policies, Governor Baker and the legislature showed laudable leadership and a commitment to restarting an economic engine in Massachusetts. We are proud to be a part of the coalition that helped push these initiatives over the finish line and we cant wait to start delivering again on the promise of clean air and well-paying jobs that solar energy offers.
"We look forward to working with the legislature and the governor on long-term policies that support greater use of clean energy, and on the next generation of solar incentives described in the legislation."
