NEW PLATFORM FOR THE GULF REGION'S SOLAR INDUSTRY
2016 INTERSOLAR MIDDLE EAST TO TAKE PLACE IN DUBAI
Pforzheim/Dubai, September 15, 2015 - Next year, the Middle East solar industry will have a new platform: The industrys leading international exhibition is coming to Dubai. From September 19 - 21, 2016, Intersolar Middle East will take place in conjunction with GulfSol for the first time. The organizers of the current GulfSol, dmg events, Solar Promotion International and Freiburg Marketing Management International (FMMi) are joining forces to run the new industry meeting point together in the future.
High solar irradiation, large open spaces, and growing energy demand: The Gulf states are ideally located for generating renewable energy from sunlight. In order to lay the foundation for expanding solar energy, the Intersolar Middle East Exhibition and Conference in Dubai will be launched in 2016. From September 19 - 21, industry representatives and investors will meet at the Dubai World Trade Center to exchange ideas about expanding the MENA solar market.
Organizers with experience in the renewable energy sector
There is an experienced trio of organizers behind the Intersolar Middle East. Solar Promotion International and FMMi, organizers of the world-wide Intersolar exhibition series, have been active in the Gulf region for three years, including with the 2014 Intersolar Summit Middle East in Riyadh. In addition, dmg events Middle East and Asia, organizer of more than forty leading industry exhibitions, is on board. The exhibition and media company is also behind the GulfSol, which is currently taking place for the second time in Dubai in conjunction with the Global Solar Leaders Summit.
The market: Size of Solar Energy Projects in the MENA region is increasing
Experts attest to the high growth potential of the solar industry in the Gulf region. In an analysis of the states of the GCC, the Arthur D. Little consultancy recommends investing into solar energy. Only then will these countries be able to minimize lost profits due to their own use of fossil energy sources and promote economic development. According to the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA), the number of solar energy projects in the MENA region is currently growing. MESIA reports that prices for solar systems, which declined by 75 percent between 2008 and 2014, are among the factors encouraging this growth. MESIA has also observed that the average size of solar energy projects in the region is increasing. While the majority of projects were previously located in the United Arab Emirates, projects are now being launched in more and more markets. This year, photovoltaics projects with more than 700 MW are planned in the emerging Egyptian market. In Morocco, the planned Foum Al Ouad and Boujdour power plants alone are expected to reach a combined capacity of 1 GW - and those are just two of many current projects.
With Dubai, Intersolar Middle East, has found an ideal venue to reach the regions emerging solar markets - Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, along with for example Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco in North Africa.
