Webinar to discuss CSP's role in the storage market

SEIA, Abengoa and SolarReserve will be participating in a free to view webinar about CSP's storage capabilities and the potential for new projects.

The webinar titled ‘Is the energy storage market the future of CSP?' will feature a case study analysis of two CSP plants with storage in the U.S. and a market overview of the drivers for CSP development. CSP developer Abengoa will be sharing analysis on their Arizona based ‘Solana' parabolic trough plant which has 6 hours of molten salt storage technology. The plant was recently highlighted as an ‘example model' by Peter Davidson (Executive Director of the Loan Programs Office at the Department of Energy). Developer SolarReserve will be presenting on the ‘Crescent Dunes' project which when completed will have 11 hours of night time storage capability.

SEIA will be sharing expert analysis of the current market drivers for storage development in the U.S. The market for energy storage has expanded rapidly in recent months – facilitated by the California Public Utilities Commission 1.3GW storage requirement mandate set out in 2013.

The webinar will be addressing the potential role for CSP in the South Western United States where CSP has seen a boom in recent years. CSP with storage accounts for 670MW of the 1312MW of utility scale CSP which has been recently constructed in the South-Western United States.
