Fronius USA Donates Inverters to Electrical Trade Students
The PCCTE is a vocational school for high school students looking to begin learning a trade and receive STEM education.
VALPARAISO, IN | Electrical engineering vocational students at the Porter County Career and Technical Center (PCCTE) received a gift in March of 2014 from Fronius USA LLC that will help them gain direct hands on experience with solar energy. Fronius USA company representatives personally donated two solar power inverters of two different lines, the Fronius IG and the Fronius IG Plus, totaling $5,000 to the center. Thomas Enzendorfer, Director of the Solar Energy Division of Fronius USA, also spent some time speaking with the students of the center about Fronius and solar energy.
"Fronius USA was pleased to hire a student last year from the PCCTE that exemplified the drive, soft skills, and great skill in solar energy," said Enzendorfer. "Fronius USA values our young workforce and looks forward to supporting our youth in learning more about solar energy to help sustain our industry and build our future."
The PCCTE currently uses microinverters for its small PV system of 32 rooftop solar panels that the students of the past have worked to complete and now maintain. The electrical engineering students plan to utilize the donated string inverters once they have completed learning how they work. The Center is very pleased that the new inverters will be able to serve dozens of solar panels, whereas one microinverter only serves one panel.
