Micro-grid solar photovoltaic modules in Bangladesh

In Bangladesh, electric powered micro-grid solar photovoltaic modules are producing clean and renewable electricity for schools in the cities of Khamarbahpata and Nowshala, hosting 130 students aged 10 to 15 years in rural areas.

Energy Assistance France (EAF), an association formed by energy producers Cofely, Ineo and GDF-Suez helping communities which have no access to electricity, issued 1.38 kilowatts solar modules to Friendship, a Bangladesh based NGO that promotes economic development, to support the project of electric micro-network for schools. Those solar modules are produced by Upsolar, an international, solar modules' manufacturer, and generate enough electricity to light up the entire site and charging stations are provided to the community.

"The 130 students are not the only ones to benefit from the system , far from it , since the rest of the community can connect five computers to power and recharge cell phones " said Peter Moench , engineer in GDF Suez Group and member of EAF." Here we do not just produce clean energy but we open new channels of communication and we encourage the implementation of economic activities."
Upsolar and FAE are also working on a project of solar energy in West Africa production and Friendship plans to implement similar projects on the banks of the Ganges in order to supply millions electrical people .
"Too many communities around the world do not have adequate access to energy and projects like this demonstrate how renewable energy can change daily life, even very small scale " said Anne Torricelli , key Account Manager at Upsolar . "Since its founding, Upsolar has always put social and environmental responsibility at the heart of its business. And we are determined to play our part alongside renowned organizations such as EAF and Friendship, to help the poor. "
