Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) was the premium sponsor for the Joint Forces for Solar – 2nd PV Briefing & Networking Forum Saudi Arabia on 10th September 2013 at the Sheraton Hotel, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event was powered by Intersolar, EuPD Research and the Saudi Arabia Solar Industry Association (SASIA).
Over 250 executives and senior representatives of international & local specialized solar energy companies attended the conference and exhibition. The attendees shared the latest knowledge in the solar technologies field and discussed the challenges, barriers and opportunities in localizing solar energy value chain technologies.
AEC & KACO surprised the event attendees when they revealed the first localized PV inverter technology product family, which ranges from 20KW to 1.5MW. AEC named the PV inverters "Shams", which means "The Sun" in Arabic. The green color of the Shams units symbolizes a green environment and matches the color of the Kingdom's flag.
Shams is the first range of PV inverters which complies with the K.A.CARE local content conditions, according to the terms of the published procurement white paper draft. Shams can achieve the maximum credits as a Saudi made PV inverter from a Saudi company, which has more than 25 years of specialized local manufacturing experience and a job Saudization ratio of over 73%.
Dr. Ghassan Al-Shibl, President & CEO of AEC, commented: "AEC will add value to the localized Shams PV inverters with our company's strengths in local manufacturing, testing, commissioning, local support, repair and maintenance. From the customer perspective there will be many more benefits including faster service, a lower level of stockable spares required and lower costs over project life, to name a few. Our strategic partnership with a market leader such as KACO new energy, which has more than 60 years of specialized experience in manufacturing PV inverters, will strongly support AEC to become the market leader in PV inverter manufacturing, in the MENA region."
AEC, established in 1988, is an Offset Program company and has become a recognized regional pioneer in the innovation and development of advanced electronics, serving the Military, Telecom and Industrial Sectors. As one of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's premier state-of-the-art technology companies, AEC's leadership includes expertise in the fields of modern electronics manufacturing, system integration, and repair & maintenance services. AEC has become a gateway to highly specialized services and opportunities, offering local access to world-class engineering, manufacturing, repair, maintenance and complete solution capabilities at its facilities. The company also provides the benefit of easy and rapid access to other regional markets, customers and distribution networks.
KACO was founded in 1914 and began manufacturing inverters over sixty years ago. KACO is now the world's second largest manufacturer of PV inverters. The company has factories in Germany, the U.S.A., Canada and South Korea. One of KACO new energy's latest projects, beginning in December 2012, was to supply 400MW of Solar Power to 70,000 households in Texas, U.S.A. With 6GW of inverters now in operation worldwide, KACO new energy is a trusted and reliable partner for photovoltaic systems around the globe.
