Workshops and Field Trips Announced for Geothermal Resources Council Annual Meeting
The Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) has announced more details of events at the world's largest annual geothermal conference at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
(Las Vegas, Nevada, USA) In addition to the main event of the GRC Annual Meeting & GEA Geothermal Energy Expo taking place September 29-October 2, 2013, there will be two workshops and two field trips before the conference and one field trip just after.
The two pre-event geothermal workshops will be held over two days. New Developments in Power Plants and Geothermal Exploration in the 21st Century will take place on September 27 and 28, before the start of the GRC Annual Meeting & GEA Geothermal Energy Expo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The GRC Workshop presentations will be given by experts from private industry, national laboratories and universities, and should prove valuable for anyone interested in learning about the latest exciting developments in geothermal energy.
In addition, there will be two pre-event field trips. One to study Las Vegas Valley geology, including the famous Great Unconformity on Frenchman Mountain, and another to the Hoover Dam and Goodsprings Waste Heat Facility, an innovative recovered energy generation power plant. In addition, there will be a post-conference trip to geothermal facilities in the Imperial Valley, California and Cerro Prieto, Mexico, two of the largest geothermal energy resources in the world.
The GRC Annual Meeting & GEA Geothermal Energy Expo is the industry's largest annual gathering of leading geothermal energy scientists, producers, renewable energy industry stakeholders, regulators, utilities, and key associated business leaders. The four-day event will offer technical, policy, and market conference sessions, educational seminars, tours of local geothermal and renewable energy projects, and numerous networking opportunities.
Registration to the GRC Annual Meeting will open in July and will also include entry to the GEA Expo. Room reservations can now be made on the GRC website at http://www.geothermal.org. A discounted room rate at the MGM grand is available until May 31, so early reservations are recommended.
