ENERDEL Demonstrates Mobile Microgrid Storage System for the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC)
The SP40-390 Mobile Microgrid Storage System received high marks during the week-long Experimental Forward Operating Base (ExFOB) exercise.
INDIANAPOLIS – (May 22, 2013) – EnerDel, Inc., a leader in lithium-ion energy storage systems, participated in an impressive demonstration of hybrid energy solutions at the U.S. Marine Corps annual ExFOB exercise held at the MCAGCC - TwentyNine Palms, California.
EnerDel's Mobile Microgrid Storage System featured two EnerDel Type PE700-393, 24kWh lithium-ion battery packs, mated with a 10kW DC-AC inverter alongside a 10kW diesel generator. The system was fit onto a standard Light Tactical Trailer with room for a 10kW AMMPS generator set. The two EnerDel battery packs are capable of providing a maximum continuous discharge of 140A and a maximum continuous charge of 70A. The system is operable in wide-ranging environmental temperatures, allows for field maintenance, and is scalable to fit various power requirements.
"Throughout the rigorous week-long testing, the Mobile Microgrid's performance exceeded expectations," said Rafael Gutierrez, EnerDel's VP of Energy Storage Systems and one of EnerDel's four on-site representatives during the ExFOB, "It garnered praise from military personnel for its compact nature and ease of deployment. Senior Officers, Enlisted Utility Technicians and civilian contractors all showed enthusiasm for its power capabilities, clean integration from standard COTS components, high mobility and efficient fuel usage."
"EnerDel's Mobile Microgrid exhibits the broad capability of EnerDel's technological solutions in remote or distressed areas where the traditional grid infrastructure is not present or is temporarily disabled," said David Roberts, CEO of EnerDel. "This is an effort that requires further development for commercial release, but this demonstration clearly indicates that EnerDel's design holds definite advantages over other power systems. Its potential capabilities are virtually unlimited, from establishing power quickly for tactical or security deployments, to providing efficient and effective power for provisional housing in a disaster zone."
EnerDel's approach to cell, module, and system design and production has created some of the safest lithium-ion solutions available on the market. The company recently published a safety white paper that outlines its approach.
