3PESI's Powersails™ is a cost-effective, mobile, renewable energy solution for victims of any natural disaster, such as Hurricane Sandy, where power and water supplies are lost. However, it is not necessary to wait for a disaster before using this revolutionary product. It also offers a long-term energy source for environmentally conscious enterprises. Additionally, the company's sustainable advertising initiative offers a way for ‘green' companies to promote their brand by installing wind turbines with advertising space on the sails.
3PESI has been researching and developing the mobile unit, which was launched October 21, 2012, for three years. The mobile energy units combine renewable energy sources – solar and wind power – with fuel-based generators. The three energy sources are integrated, and offer both grid-tied and off-grid capabilities. The use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power allows for extended deployment time, eliminating the need to resupply weekly.
Disaster PREP (Powersails™ Relief Exchange Program) is designed to provide rapid support to 3PESI's disaster zones, saving lives and aiding rapid recovery. Powersails™ PODs (Power on Demand) is the shipping container and structural base that houses the entire system; these can be rapidly deployed once transported to the disaster zone.
POD owners can choose to participate in the program, making their unit available for rapid response and immediate use once transported to the disaster zone. Participants receive compensation while they wait for a replacement POD unit.
