Telergon's S5000 DC load break switches are currently available in four models: Size 1 (250 amp), Size 2 (400 amp), Size 3 (700 amp) and Size 4 (1250 amp).

Portsmouth, NH. August 23, 2012 –Woehner USA has announced the commercial availability of Telergon's S5000 DC load break switches which are ETL recognized to the UL98B standard at 1000Vdc. Woehner USA is the official distributor for the complete range of Telergon photovoltaic (PV) switches in North America.

Telergon's S5000 DC load break switches are aimed at North American photovoltaic installations that require NRTL (Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory) certification. They are typically used in string combiner boxes, re-combiner boxes and inverters that are constructed to the UL1741 standard and can be used to safely disconnect live direct current at up to 1000Vdc.

The S5000 DC load break switch is constructed with four poles. The contact carrier, inside the switch, breaks the circuit in eight positions (two per pole). It is certified for system wiring in a 4+0 configuration (single polarity), using jumper bars between three of the switches' adjacent terminal connections. This wiring configuration is used most predominately in grounded PV systems.

"We have the unique advantage of being certified for breaking both positive and negative polarities when wired as a two pole switch, using two jumper bars, in either a 3+1 or 2+2 configuration," said Kevin Saunders, Managing Director of Wöhner USA. "This wiring is used most frequently in ungrounded photovoltaic systems that are predominant in European installations, and this two-pole configuration is growing in popularity in North America."
