DBT Introduces First Solar Charging Station in Jordan for 100% Sustainable EV Charging

Amman, Jordan – DBT, Europe's leading electric vehicle charging station manufacturer, provided a Level II charging station for the first off grid solar canopy charging station unveiled in Jordan on October 20th, 2011. The ceremony took place on El-Hassan Science City University's campus. Jordanian Princess Sumaya bint El-Hassan, a strong advocate of alternative energy and sustainable transportation, attended the event.
DBT teamed up with innovative e-mobility partners NetEnergy, Nissan, Matra, AllCell Technologies, Sun Phocus Technologies, and the Jordanian Ministry of Environment on the project. The solar-powered EV charging station is equipped with a Level II SXB model from DBT, rated at 7kW (220V-32A) which can charge a Nissan LEAF™ in less than 4 hours using nothing but the sun to generate the electricity. DBT's station features 2 plugs and allows EV users to charge 2 vehicles (electric car, e-scooter, e-bike, etc.) at the same time.
According to DBT CEO Herve Borgoltz, the project is in-line with DBT's broader strategy. "This project is not only further evidence of DBT's position as a leader in electric vehicle charging solutions; it also demonstrates that we are a global partner in the development of green energy. We are proud to be part of this project and we are looking forward to many others like it."
The project builds on DBT's latest successes in the world EV charging market. DBT was recently selected by Nissan as a partner to deploy a new generation of inexpensive DC fast chargers in Europe. Earlier this month, DBT was also selected to supply 350 Level II charging stations through the E-laad Foundation project in the Netherlands, the first phase of a program that is expected to install 15,000 charging points over the next 5 years.
