The CSP industry in the US gears up to meet in San Francisco
The 2nd CSP Plant Optimization Summit USA is only one week away, taking place on the 7-8th September at the Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco.
The event will bring together leading technical experts throughout the CSP industry and will tackle the immediate roadblocks faced in the design, engineering and operation of large-scale CSP plants.
Leading CSP companies including NextEra Energy Resources, Abengoa Solar, Brightsource, Bechtel, Abener, Albiasa Solar, Siemens, Fluor, Flasol amongst others are already confirmed to attend, with the industry poised to tackle the technical challenges faced in the design, engineering and construction of large-scale CSP plants, with a focus on:
Plant design and layout considerations for 100MW+ projects
New generation plant modelling
Cooling technology – efficiency vs. cost
Critical balance of plant component selection and integration for reduced LCOE
Innovation in storage technologies
Successful project execution and operations & maintenance
The event organizers have recently announced that Bechtel and Siemens are sponsoring the conference. Bechtel will use their expertise to give an exclusive case study on the design and integration of Ivanpah, the world's largest power tower project, whilst Siemens will be sharing their knowledge in power block innovations for super-scale CSP. Other sponsors of the summit include Fluor and Sun to Market Solutions in the focused CSP exhibition area.
Jack Ahearne, global events director at CSP Today said that "the CSP industry in the United States is poised for massive growth and development in 2012; however, there are technical challenges that need to be addressed, which means that fast action is required". He went on to say that "this event was created to provide solutions to the design, engineering and operation of large-scale plants, to secure CSPs place in the emerging renewable energy economy in the US.
In 2010, CSP Today attracted more than 2,800 people through their events hosted in USA, Europe, the Middle East/North Africa region and India, and is devoted to promote the evolution of CSP technologies and markets by providing news and an open forum for those who are shaping the industry's future.
