About GSA Cloud Computing
"Cloud" is a metaphor describing the internet. Hence, Cloud Computing is a term used to describe a computer system or systems that do not require that the end-user have knowledge of the location of the physical computer system or servers.
GSA Cloud Computing Trail Blazers
The GSA has recently moved all email and collaboration tools to a cloud-based system. The GSA estimates that this will reduce costs by 50% over a five year period.

Expect Cloud Computing Government Wide Initiatives
President Obama's "Accountable Government Initiative" is designed to close the historically wide spread between the Federal Government and the more computer savvy Private Sector. Cloud based systems are a "hot button" for the administration because of their ability to deliver better results for the user while reducing costs at the same time. In order to push this initiative forward security standards needed to be developed.
