In the competitive green building marketplace, a combination of quality product and staff expertise is necessary for success. EnerWorks has recently furthered that expertise with additional staff accreditation from a variety of industry regulatory bodies.

"We are constantly striving to be a better company to do business with," says EnerWorks CEO Ken Arnold. "To do that, we need to understand what our installers face, how our products are used and what our customers' needs are. Training and certification are among the ways we take concrete steps towards achieving this."

One of the credentials recently achieved by EnerWorks staff is the LEED-Accredited Professional certification awarded to Florin Plavosin, Senior Director of Product Development. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the building rating system developed by the United States Green Building Council through which points are awarded for incorporating environmentally responsible features, such as EnerWorks solar thermal appliances, into new buildings. The Professional Accreditation is awarded to building professionals who demonstrate a complete understanding of green building requirements and procedures and, with their significant expertise in the LEED system, are able to facilitate the LEED certification process.

More specific to solar thermal systems, Jay Raes, Residential and Commercial Sales, and Robert Singlehurst, who provides product support and training for EnerWorks' distributors and dealers, have recently passed the CanSIA Solar Hot Water System Installer exam.

"Jay and Rob are the first point of contact for many of our distributors, dealers and installers, so their knowledge of the installation process is crucial," says Arnold. "Achieving this certificate is verification of that expertise and their ability to advise our customers."

Singlehurst has also become the first North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Certified Solar Thermal Installer' in Canada.

"Like the CanSIA certification, the NABCEP accreditation demonstrates EnerWorks dedication to understanding and providing practical advice to our customers at the front lines," says Arnold. "We encourage our dealers and installers to also undertake these certifications so that, from product development through to installation and maintenance, our solar thermal systems maximize the economic and environmental advantages of solar water heating."
