Talking SPI 2018 with HellermanTyton

Nick Korth | HellermanTyton

Tell us about your company.

HellermannTyton is a global manufacturer in many market segments including heavy duty truck, automotive, electrical and wind and solar. We have taken our expertise acquired in these adjacent markets and used it to create world-class solar wire management, protection and identification products.

Your company will be exhibiting at SPI 2018, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

SPI is the ideal place to meet existing customers and create new ones. It is also a great place to get a read on the market not only from a product standpoint but also to see policy trends.

Highlight 2 or 3 products you will be showcasing at the event?

This year, HellermannTyton is doubling down in our focus on wire management with single axis trackers. As a company that regularly visits job sites, products that streamline installation and lower installation costs are still top-of-mind for folks out in the field. With our two newest solar fasteners – Button Mount with Cable Tie and Locking Clamp – we’ve considered the elements we have witnessed out in the field and applied them to create new and innovative designs.

SPI 2018 has many educational sessions & demo’s, is your company involved in any of them this year?

We have two poster presentations this year focusing on wire management materials and the NEC 2017 code. We have recently added Cari Helberg to our team. Cari comes to us from the asset management side of the solar business and brings a wealth of knowledge to our team, including having been an electrical inspector and a journeyman electrician in a past life. Stop by our booth to chat with the most knowledgeable team in the business!

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?  Any educational sessions you plan on attending?

Meetings often keep me quite busy at SPI, but I like to sneak away to see what the racking and module companies are up to. It seems that a lot of the innovation going on right now in the industry is in those two segments, and it’s my job to keep up on those trends.

When you book a booth for a tradeshow like this what are your expectations and what does your company hope to accomplish at the event?

Inevitably, this is an investment in growing our brand and meeting new people.

A tradeshow of this magnitude is extremely busy and stressful for the staff of exhibiting companies.  Any fun things or places your team can suggest in Anaheim to help unwind?

There are some fantastic breweries in and around the Anaheim area; nothing like winding down over a nice craft beer!
