SPI 2014 - Schneider Electric Announces Launch of New PV Skid at Solar Power International 2014

Solar Power International on October 20-23, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada

Burnaby, Canada, October 16, 2014 — Schneider Electric Solar Business, a global leader in solutions for solar power conversion chain, announces the launch of the new PV Skid, an optimized power conversion system designed for North American photovoltaic (PV) power plants.

Schneider Electric will be exhibiting in booth #1024 at Solar Power International on October 20-23, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where attendees will be able to learn more about the new PV Skid solution from Schneider Electric.

Introducing the PV Skid

"We're proud to announce the launch of the new PV Skid, which follows the success of our PV Box RT and ST solutions already installed in PV power plants globally," said Arnaud Cantin, Vice-President of the Utility-Scale Line of Business. "The PV Skid, tailored for North American power plants, strengthens Schneider Electric's commitment to meeting the needs of customers by adapting to different geographies and local requirements."

The new PV Skid from Schneider Electric is a fully industrialized plug and play conversion system designed for centralized PV power plants. Based on the successful Conext Core XC-NA UL 1741 1000VDC inverter platform, it is available in configurations from 1MW to 2MW AC with several optional features, including: extended temperature range from - 35 to +55°C, load center for tracker systems, and a canopy for sun protection. The PV Skid solution is delivered pre-assembled, configured, and tested to reduce on-site labor and expedite project completion.

The PV Skid has a proven robust design, having undergone rigorous reliability testing, and is built to sustain harsh environmental conditions, including low temperatures, and desert and salty environments. The inclusion of a maintenance corridor allows for easy access to the inverters during periodic servicing. The PV Skid is specifically designed for road transportation and the monoblock basement design makes for faster installation on pad or piers.

The NEW PV Skid

The PV Skid solution is part of Schneider Electric's comprehensive solution package along with the Conext Control monitoring and control system, and Schneider Electric's global services offer. With more than 1 gigawatt (GW) of service contracts, over 6,000 field service engineers, and presence in over 100 countries, Schneider Electric has the global service infrastructure and expertise to help streamline a project life cycle from concept and design to commissioning and operation.

Schneider Electric: A Bankable Partner

With solar being a young industry, the weighted average life of PV installations worldwide is below three years. And as the industry goes through intense cost competitive pressure, it has seen some suppliers come and go. As a result, choosing a long term partner is important to ensure the reliability of the solutions, along with the customer's investments, are not threatened. Schneider Electric's 15+ year history in the solar industry, financial strength, and worldwide support, guarantees Schneider Electric as a bankable partner for any PV installation.
