Danfoss Solar Inverters to Participate in Symposium on Smart Grid and New Energy Economy

LOVES PARK — Danfoss Solar Inverters today announced it will participate in the Great Lakes Symposium on Smart Grid and the New Energy Economy, hosted by the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation, September 24-26, 2012, on the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

The event will convene smart grid and microgrid developers, investors, technology providers, consumer advocates and policymakers, and will feature keynote and plenary sessions, technical presentations and tutorials by international experts on smart grid applications. The three-day symposium will also showcase best practices from around the country as well as new technologies and ideas that are spurring innovation, growing state economies, reducing emissions and empowering consumers to conserve and save.

Piyush Desai, director of product development – solar inverters, Danfoss North America, will participate in a panel discussion on "Storage for Power System Operation" during the Wednesday, September 26, sessions.

"The United States today is faced with a major challenge of ever-increasing energy use," commented Desai. "And, reducing our energy use will require more than becoming energy efficient. A smart grid, with capabilities for multi-level communication, will be instrumental, along with the deployment of renewable energy technologies and building equipment capable of storing site-generated power for use in periods when electric generation is reaching capacity and the grid needs breathing room to meet demands. Advancing these technologies will require the cooperation of equipment manufacturers, utilities, end users and regulators. Danfoss is excited to be a part of this symposium and share our global experience with environmentally friendly solar technology."
